You're missing my point. No matter what you name them and how many times it says it has been dedicated the fact still remains that you have a mini, dedicate it, sell it on and then you still have the mini to get out whenever you please. In the case of high, high end minis this just isnt fair. You are making money on something but still being able to use it.
Personally, I don't see why people need to have so many minis. I dedicate mine then trash them..

This is a great way to essentially double the existence of every single minipet, and I see that as screwing with their prices horridly, especially at the higher end.
If you want to have a hundred pets available for you to display when you can only have one out at a time, get along with carrying a hundred pets with you like you have been. If you sold or gave away your minipet, I don't see why you should have the chance to keep the ability to show it off.

As an alternative to OP's idea:
How about...
(drum rolls)
Mini Pet Storage Tab!
To simplify it, it would be limited to dedicated minipets, 1 per slot.

Not having the mini is the price you pay for selling it.

I would support Bristlebane's idea, however.

The "economy" argument is bogus, since high-end minis don't affect the economy in any meaningful way, they just get shuffled around between the same tiny percentage of the population.

You do not need minipets to finish the game, they are only accessories. Like all other accessories in GW they take up storage slots, and it is the player's choice to decide what they want to put within the limited space offered per account. I don't see why Anet should bother with offering extra storage but restricting it to only minipets.
There are a few alternatives if you cannot find space for minis: buy more chars/slots, buy more storage slots, get another account, or sell off the things you don't want in storage.

if you payed attention to what others have suggested and saw that they suggested where the ones u get back aren't able to trade ud see that...
even i suggested having a drop down pane to pick a mini without being in your HoM or in town or even storage to pick which one u can take out without taking up storage space or your inventory...READ and since when do people care about the price of minis or whatever, as years go by or new events come along they'll inflate anyway. if an ectos or armbraces inflate in price don't you think things bought with ectos will increase in price too...get your priorities straight dude...they're have been several thread of why someone doenst want something done because it'll reduce or raise prices...3 words..."GET OVER IT". itll happen anyway. its amazing to see that when a great idea to keep people interested in the game comes along someone that cares about their pocket gets it overwritten/closed.

You seem to be missing the point...
I go pick up a panda...and dedicate it...
Then I go sell it...
I can still use it...and that person has a copy...
Therefore 2 can be displayed through the existence of one pet.
This is pretty much the equivalent of there being 2 pets
Another way to look at it....
The guy dedicates his panda...then sells it...
He can still use it...so...what did he loose?...so basically that guy just got money for nothing
edit:
I feel I should note...I fully support mini storage though

While your at it.....Let me sell my customized weapons too and get a copy back that I can use, but not sell.
I agree however with a mini keeper npc...just not the selling/copy part.

We see a problem here - and its economy and ppl saying minis do or dont affect it.
If im wrong then please excuse me but i always though the Economy is anything thats traded.
High end minis cost ectos or ambraces - and you need to purchase or farm them ( most probably purchased in some form ) .So mr X selling a panda gets paid by mr Y who spend money on ectos to buy the mini and therefore affecting the economy.Ectos rise in price due to demand etc.
Then mr X has x ectos which he may then spend getting some rare weapons etc and therefore putting the ectos back into the economy.
1 thing i cant work out is as theres always people buying/selling ectos on the player market - how the hell does the prices flux via rare mats npc ?
Anet aways stated for a long time that it wasnt viable to add extra storage for some things as it would amount to more data being stored and tho they did apply more storage panes and an equipment bag - if they did dupe pets then the arguement again arises of more pets meaning more space needed on server/database.Which ever way you look at it - minipets npc has to store the data of what you`ve given him , thousands of replicated ded minis would then flood the market ( each original mini has 1 replicated ded mini ) - prices drop obviously then you have the problems of unwanted minis which no1 wants to buy and eventually players binning minis so they can have space again.
Make minis untradable ? no way , high end minis tho not many people can afford them - would become a status symbol - look i have a panda and you dont ... you can see my point. At least all players can have the dream of maybe one day being able to afford a high end mini.
Most players it seems is only after greed and cash and normal players who collect pets not for their worth nor status but as a collectable item even tho they serve no real ingame purpose. My guild has a few mini collectors in and we dont go around bragging who has what - we may show our minis in gh for others to see but only at their request if they havnt seen one before - its just a mini at the end of the day an thats all.
Do innocent players sell ectos to npc even tho you can hardly miss players in main outposts selling them.

Space issue:
Save undedicated minipet in gh as dedicated....already happens, but the minipet should disappear from your inventory....signed
Pick dedicated minipet from gh ....signed
Make 'copy' of dedicated pet.....unsigned
Utility issue:
Minipet should pick up coins and gold drops....signed
Minipet should provide combat bonuses (etc: fire djinn offers double bonuses: +20 vs fire for all party members, but only one pet allowed per team in any instance)....signed

I'd agree if you were to change the system you've suggested slightly.
That instead of a non tradeable version, when you dedicate a pet you get the option of him being "immortalised" or whatever sounds best and he takes the pet too.
Then at any other time you can go back and get the dedicated pet back, and repeat process if you don't want it in storage etc.
But it's just a twisted version of pet storage, which i doubt we'll see as it's been asked for since their conception.

Same toughts about the mini storage tab. Great idea since mini's are growing in numbers every year.
Maybe someone at the dev team might make it a ingame purchase in the GW shop just like the expension tabs so they can make more money so they can hire some more people for a year to work on a new campaign..... you know.

wow guys didn't know my mini tab in inventory was such a great idea. but i see what ur saying about the mini ded duping. i didn't mean it to be ded minis be duped if u already have one, im saying make it in your tab to SHOW ANY ded minipet u already have, which in turn makes ded minis unded again...reverting them back. doing this on reverting the minis back to unded will however increase ecto prices temporarily that way the newly ded minis are in your hall and then in your "MINI TAB" and everyone has a chance to ded them. once added to your HOM they become dedicated and are still able to sell as undedicated which in turn can be READDED to someone's HOM making all minis unded ...
1. get unded kanaxai
2. put it in HOM
3. sell it again unded(not changing any prices the more its sold and used)
4. open the MINI TAB and show off your previously sold HOM mini kanaxai
people still make money for selling(or allowing) their minis to be put in HoM
still get to take them out and show off in towns etc that are allowed to this day...
save space in inventory and storage and keep making money as u can from the minis to this day.

Why would you think a storage tab is your idea? and
Why screw up a nice idea
It's simple once dedicated you can never unded them again NEVER
Mini's do not duplicate
Once you sell it you can never EVER display it again untill you buy one again.
Rare mini's are rare for a reason if you like it or not
